April 10th deadline for Kaun Banega Entrepreneur

Kaun Banega Entrepreneur @ TiE Bangalore
Kaun Banega Entrepreneur is a program built to stimulate & nourish the entrepreneurial spirit of TiE Bangalore members & non-members. Also intended to give aspiring/existing entrepreneurs an opportunity to indulge in the process of team building and company creation. It is hoped that the real life thrill of company formation and development can be simulated through this KBE exercise.
TiE Bangalore will solicit interested teams for participation in KBE. The KBE program is open to all who meet the following criteria:
WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
- TiE Bangalore members
- Student
- Aspiring Entrepreneurs
- Individual who joins an existing team of 3 TiE Bangalore members
- TiE Hubli members
FORMATION OF TEAMS:
- Teams should have a maximum of 6 members
- No more than half (ie 3 members) should be TiE Bangalore members
- No team member can be a part of more than one team
BUSINESS PLANS:
Each team will have access to a notional funding of Rs 1 crore only. The teams have to utilise this imaginary pool of capital to develop their businesses including team formation, capital costs, sales and marketing, Technology, customer support etc.
SELECTION CRITERIA:
- The ventures selected can be in any area but should not require more than Rs 1 crore to reach a cash break-even position in as short a time as possible.
- The ventures should be scalable and have the potential to create a return multiple of at least 5 within 5 years. That is, the imaginary invested amount of Rs 1 crore should have the potential of becoming at least Rs 5 crore in 5 years.
INITIAL SELECTION PROCESS:

- Those seeking assistance in team formation (e.g. identifying appropriate TiE Bangalore members and reaching out to them) can contact the TiE Bangalore office at shashikiran@tiebangalore.org. TiE Bangalore will only facilitate, not guarantee, such interactions.
- TiE Bangalore will make public via its web-site the list of participating teams and team members by April 19th 2010.
- Business plan templates and material on business plan development will be made available on program page on www.bangalore.tie.org
- Teams will submit their business plans and presentation material (keeping guidelines in mind) by May 19th 2010.
- These submitted plans will be scrutinized and shortlisted by a TiE Bangalore panel. Five teams will be selected for grand finale presentations on Jun 5th 2010.
GRAND FINALE:
The grand finale of KBE will be held on Jun 5th 2010 (Venue to be finalized).Selected 5 teams will present to an audience and a panel of judges. Each team will present for a maximum of 20 minutes followed by a Q & A with the panel & audience.
At the end of the presentations and Q & A by all 5 teams, the audience will vote for the teams via their mobile phones & the judges will also vote and make public their decision on their top 5 choices.

THE OUTCOME:
TiE Bangalore will award citations to the top 5 teams in both categories (audience and judges).
These 5 teams can use their category as part of their marketing communication on their collaterals. TiE Bangalore will also make this known on its web-site, newsletters and media partners and also communicate to its database about the winning teams.
FACILITATION BY TIE BANGALORE:
- Provide business plan templates and material on business plan development
- Depending on numbers, TiE Bangalore will conduct a business plan workshop
- Facilitate introductions to TiE Bangalore Charter Members for purposes of mentoring
- The final 5 teams selected for the final presentations will also get introduced to the angel investment community.
RULES OF ENGAGEMENT:
- TiE Bangalore is not responsible for any leakages of confidential information from any business plan. Teams should therefore refrain from including anything that in their opinion is confidential.
- Teams presenting at the finals should be aware that the presentations will be made in public with the audience also participating in voting.
- The TiE Bangalore judging committee’s decision will be final
