SS Kolkata heating up!

Startup Saturday by HeadStartHeadStart has penetrated into the entrepreneurial community of Kolkata. After having unified the Startup entrepreneurs of Bangalore, Mumbai and Delhi; HeadStart is heating up the startup scenario here. Startups have started to gather at Startup Saturday Kolkatta to present, network and learn from peers, prospective customers, adopters, partners, students and investors in an open forum discussion.

HeadStart’s view is to go beyond the dot com bubbles and spread out to entrepreneurs from all sectors of businesses- both online and offline. If that sounds too formal for an event, think again! The December session of StartUp Saturday at Kolkata was an informal confluence of a group of business enthusiasts and informal enough for the attendees to share their social networking ids. Not only were there successful entrepreneurs recounting their Startup experiences and formulas of making it big, the group comprised of aspiring Startups, retired personnel and students of not only of management background but also of Economics and Law.

The event was hosted jointly by entrepreneurs Mr. Sumit Datta and Ms. Arundhati Dutta. The main presenters were Mr. Uday Singh Solanki of eRevMax, a firm that revolutionized online distribution of hotels with the creation of RateTiger and Mr. Arnab Ray, of Array Consultancy, who has a rich consulting experience in defining, leading and managing high-impact projects in financial services and insurance industries as well as the technology sector.

Mr. Solanki stressed that focus, commitment and the urge to make a difference in the chosen industry are an absolute must, besides innovation and simplicity, to make a successful Startup. The presentation took the form of a discussion where the attendees were free to express their perspectives. This was followed by a Q & A session. Inevitably, the session took longer than the scheduled time.

Mr. Ray’s presentation showcased a tactical maneuver towards a thriving Startup. He was aptly assisted by friend and business partner Mr. Subhajit Roy Choudhury.

The only disappointment was the poor attendance. Not more than twenty people turned up for the event although the online registration exceeded fifty. As pointed out by Mr. Sumit Datta, this is due to lack of proper publicity. Dissemination of information about the event would indeed attract a lot more technophiles and business buffs to the otherwise expedient event.

StartupNews.in wishes the organizers good luck and assures the team of our full co-operation and support at all times. May the tribe increase!
